Position Description:

As a Senior First-Person Gameplay Animator, you will be responsible for creating animations and animation systems for the main character in first-person view (FPS).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create animations that follow the visual language defined by the Animation Director and respect game design constraints.
  • Demonstrate strong keyframing skills; most of our main-character animations are created keyframe-based from multiple video references.
  • Be comfortable processing and enhancing mocap data; we use motion capture as a foundation for some of our animation systems.
  • Adjust data with great precision due to our game engine’s requirements, demanding close attention to detail.
  • Export and integrate your animations according to technical guidelines, collaborating with the Technical Director or Technical Animator, designers, and programmers.
  • Test and iterate your systems directly in the game.
  • Work closely with fellow animators, the Animation Director, programmers, and designers to deliver your system on time and at the expected quality level.
  • Be responsible for the final in-game feel of your work: this is how we validate animation quality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in video game animation.
  • A sharp eye for detail and visual quality.
  • An open and collaborative attitude, able to find compromises to solve complex problems.
  • Constant motivation and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle frustrations related to production changes.
  • Passion for teamwork and sharing ideas in a creative environment.
  • Mandatory experience in 3C animation and building first-person (FPS) animation systems.
  • Proficiency in mocap data processing.
  • Knowledge of MotionBuilder (an asset).
  • Experience on a published AAA title (a plus).
  • Solid understanding of technical constraints related to game-engine integration.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and respect artistic and technical visions.
