The opportunity

The Privacy Lead plays a key role in shaping and strengthening QBE’s approach to privacy and responsible data use. Working as part of the Group Privacy Team, this role partners closely with the business to manage privacy risk, uplift capability, and embed privacy‑by‑design across data, technology and AI initiatives.

About QBE

  • At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

  • We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

  • What if you could have a positive impact – at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role

As Privacy Lead, you will support QBE’s Group and AUSPAC Division by providing trusted, pragmatic privacy advice while helping to evolve our privacy strategy, governance and risk management maturity. You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, influencing outcomes and ensuring privacy considerations are embedded into business decision‑making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high‑quality privacy advice, including undertaking Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and managing privacy incidents, complaints and enquiries

  • Partnering with Technology, Data, AI and project teams to identify, assess and manage privacy, ethical and regulatory risks

  • Embedding privacy‑by‑design, ethical design and responsible AI principles across initiatives and programs

  • Supporting the implementation of Group privacy, data and AI policies within the AUSPAC business

  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of privacy policies, standards, training and awareness across the organisation

  • Supporting privacy governance, reporting, metrics and insights for senior leaders and key stakeholders

About you

You are a confident privacy professional with deep subject matter expertise and a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach. You enjoy partnering with the business, can balance competing priorities, and are comfortable operating autonomously in a complex, fast‑paced environment. You bring strong judgement, clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience advising on privacy risk, Privacy Impact Assessments and incident management

  • Strong knowledge of privacy obligations, data ethics and emerging technologies, including AI

  • Experience working in large, complex organisations with diverse stakeholder groups

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise, triage and manage multiple privacy matters effectively

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills

  • Experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous, but not essential
