Location: This role could be based in either our Edinburgh or Birmingham offices with at least 2 days per week spent in the office.

The role

The Operational Risk and Resilience Manager is responsible for leading and strengthening the Finance function’s operational risk, operational resilience, and internal control environment. The role provides expert oversight and challenge across resilience, business continuity, information security, data management, and technology risk, including oversight of those risks arising from third‑party relationships.

This role requires an experienced individual who can build strong relationships across the Finance function and with Group stakeholders, ensuring that Finance’s capabilities are robust, effective, and aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practice. You will act as a trusted adviser, supporting Finance in identifying vulnerabilities, improving risk maturity, and maintaining continuity of important services.

You will:

• Lead and enhance operational resilience, business continity and internal controls.

• Review and challenge resilience artefacts (IBS mapping, BIAs, BCPs).

• Own resilience and controls testing—plan, deliver and track outcomes.

• Manage Bronze‑level incidents to ensure effective response and recovery.

• Identify and manage resillience and operational risks, escalating when needed.

• Use data and metrics to spot vulnerabilities and drive improvements.

• Influence stakeholders across Finance and Group on resilience best practice

What are we looking for?

• Experience in operational resilience within financial services and understanding of regulatory expectations (e.g. PRA SS 1/21, FCA).

• Background in business continuity, incident management, information security, data management or operational risk.

• Strong grasp of risk and control frameworks across tech, cyber, third‑party and data domains.

• Excellent communicator who can simplify complex risk topics.

• Confident influencer, comfortable challenging at all levels.

• Analytical thinker with experience using data to generate insight.

• Awareness of AI and emerging technologies.
