Salary: This is a full time role with a full-time equivalent salary of up to £33,606 per annum dependant on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 33 hours per week over 4 days, working one in four Fridays, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Media Lecturer to join our Media department.

The purpose of the role is to demonstrate a high-quality professional practice and provide quality teaching and learning at a variety of levels, including T Level. Devise action plans and maintain appropriate records.

The successful applicant must have:

  • BA (Hons) in Media related relevant subject (or substantial professional experience)
  • A comprehensive background and knowledge of Media subjects in one or more of the following areas: TV & Film Production, Print Production, Animation, Website Design, theoretical knowledge relating to Film, TV, Video and Print, Digital and Darkroom Photography, relevant experience within Media industries
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Experience of teaching and assessment of a wide range of Media related subjects (including those outlined below) from Level 2 to Level 5
  • Effective teaching and assessment skills with the ability to teach across a range of levels
  • Effective organisational skills and time management skills

The roles main duties include to:

  • Teach and assess, using an appropriate mix of traditional, e-learning and blended learning approaches, on a range of courses on Media practices.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of work within the curriculum area.
  • Provide support and guidance to students, including tutorial support, both in the college and while they are in on an industry placement.
  • Operate as an effective member of relevant course teams and work closely with other areas.
  • Carry out administrative duties associated with teaching and assessment, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a satisfactory standard within established deadlines.
  • Liaise with external bodies, partner agencies and employers to support the development of the curriculum.
  • Ensure safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible.
  • Provide such returns or reports as may from time to time be required by the Head of Curriculum or College.
  • Assist in the recruitment of students, including interviewing and enrolments.
  • Assist in marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events.
  • Assist in the development of curriculum support materials.
  • Assist with programmes of work experience and/or industrial and commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements.
  • Ensure the principles of equality and diversity are upheld.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.
