Position Description

As an animation team lead, you will be responsible for supporting the project lead (PL) or production manager (PM) in overseeing quality and meeting deadlines for your small team. You will collaborate on monitoring your team’s work, coach them, and validate production results, while also handling some game development tasks under your responsibility (if applicable).

What you will do:

• Create, prioritize, assign, and track daily tasks and your team’s progress based on deliverables;
• Serve as your team’s representative;
• Organize and manage your team’s meetings;
• Familiarize yourself with the game’s story, gameplay, and cinematics (game design documents) and master technical and/or artistic constraints to properly guide and coach your team;
• Provide periodic status reports to the PL/PM on your team’s task progress and suggest corrective measures when necessary to meet objectives;
• Anticipate and address potential conflict situations and propose solutions to the PL/PM within the framework of problem-solving;
• Mentor your team members at the technical and/or artistic level, as needed;
• Participate in performance reviews in collaboration with the PL/PM;
• Coordinate bug fixes related to your team’s work;
• Ensure onboarding of new team members;
• Participate in recruitment to expand your team;
• Produce some of the animation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in video game animation.
• Relevant experience in animation and team management.
• Solid understanding of animation principles, game engines, production pipelines, and their constraints.
• Proficiency in animation software (preferred: MotionBuilder).
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with motion capture workflows.
• Knowledge of game engines/tools and game production pipelines.
